SCOPE

What window cleaning includes.

Included

  • Exterior glass on residential and commercial property
  • Interior glass by arrangement
  • Frames, sills and tracks
  • Screens — removed, cleaned and put back
  • Storefront and entry glass for commercial accounts
  • Multi-story where it can be reached safely from the ground

Not included

  • Repairing seals, replacing glass or fixing failed double-glazing
  • Removing hard water etching that has already gone into the glass surface
  • Scratch removal or glass restoration
  • Any window that cannot be reached safely

Saying what is not in the price is not a weakness. A surprise at the end of a job costs more goodwill than an honest line on a website ever will.

HOW WE WORK

Every job runs the same way.

Consistency is most of what separates a professional job from a cheap one. This is the sequence, on every property.

1

Look before touching

Some glass has stains rather than dirt — hard water spotting, construction overspray, sprinkler mineral deposit. Those need treatment, and cleaning straight over them just spreads them evenly. We identify what we are dealing with first.

2

Screens come out and get cleaned separately

A clean window behind a dirty screen still looks dirty. Screens come out, get washed, and go back in the opening they came from.

3

Frames, sills and tracks

The tracks are where the grit, dead insects and old mulch actually live. Skipping them is the difference between windows that look clean from six feet and windows that look clean when you open them.

4

Wash and squeegee the glass

Solution, then a proper squeegee pass with a detailed edge. The edges and corners are where amateur work shows first.

5

Check each pane at an angle

Glass only shows its streaks in certain light and from certain angles. Every pane gets checked from an angle before we move on, because coming back for one window helps nobody.

WORKING WITH CODE 3

The things you were going to have to ask.

Insured

Code 3 Cleaning carries insurance. Certificates are available on request, and commercial accounts and property managers can have them on file before work starts.

Guaranteed

We do not stop until the job is right. If something is not right when we are done, it gets fixed — that is the whole policy and it does not need small print.

Estimates, usually same day

Most estimates go out the same day. If not, inside 24 hours. You should not have to chase a contractor for a number.

Pay how you want

Cash, check, card, and the common payment apps. Whatever is easiest on your end.

Code 3 Cleaning is firefighter-owned and based in Pleasant Prairie, now in our fourth season. You are dealing directly with an owner, not a call center — which is also why the guarantee above is worth something.

KENOSHA COUNTY, WI & LAKE COUNTY, IL

When to have windows done around here.

Two windows in the calendar make the most sense in this climate. Late spring, once the tree and grass pollen that coats everything in May has finished, and early fall, after the summer dust and before the weather closes in. Book the spring one too early and you are cleaning glass that is about to get yellow again.

Hard water is the local issue that catches people out. A lot of homes in Kenosha County are on water hard enough that a sprinkler head hitting the same pane every morning will leave mineral deposit that builds into a visible haze. Caught early it comes off with treatment. Left for years it etches into the surface of the glass and no cleaner will bring it back — at that point it is a glass replacement conversation, not a cleaning one. Worth moving the sprinkler head.

Lake-effect weather off Michigan drives grit and spray onto windows on the east side of a property harder than the rest, which is why that side often needs the same attention twice as often.

QUESTIONS

Straight answers.

Do you clean the inside too?

Yes, by arrangement. Plenty of customers have the exterior done on a regular cycle and the interior once or twice a year.

Are screens and tracks included?

Yes. Screens are removed, cleaned and replaced, and the tracks and sills are cleaned out. A spotless pane behind a grimy screen is not a clean window.

Can you remove hard water spots?

Often, if they are caught before they etch. Mineral deposit sitting on the surface responds to treatment. Once it has gone into the glass it is permanent, and we will tell you that rather than charge you to find out.

How often should windows be cleaned?

Twice a year suits most homes here — late spring and early fall. Commercial storefronts usually want monthly or quarterly.

What if it rains the next day?

Rain by itself is fairly clean and does not undo the work. What makes glass look dirty is rain running over dirt that was already there, which is exactly what is no longer there.

Do you do second and third story windows?

Where they can be reached safely from the ground with the right equipment, yes. If a window cannot be done safely we will tell you rather than improvise.

Can window cleaning go with other work?

It usually should. Doing glass after a house wash rather than before means it stays clean, and doing both on one visit costs less than two trips.

Are you insured?

Yes. Code 3 Cleaning carries insurance and certificates are available on request. Commercial accounts and property managers can have them on file before work starts.

Do you guarantee your work?

Yes. We do not stop until it is right. If something is not right when we are finished, we come back and fix it.

How fast will I get an estimate?

Usually the same day, and inside 24 hours at the latest.
